Sevilla Enter the Fray for Lazio Wantaway Midfielder

Sevilla have reportedly entered the race for Lazio midfielder Luis Alberto who has made his intentions clear in recent days.

Following last Friday’s 4-1 win over Salernitana, the Spaniard dropped a bombshell in his post-match interview with DAZN. He revealed his desire to leave the club at the end of the season, urging the Biancocelesti to rescind his contract which is valid until June 2027.

Naturally, Lazio president Claudio Lotito doesn’t intend to lose one of his finest players for free. Therefore, Alberto would have to hope for the emergence of a suitor who’s willing to meet the Biancocelesti’s price.

According to Fichajes.net (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), the 31-year-old has several suitors in his home country, including Sevilla who have revived their attempts to bring back the player to the club. Alberto’s career started at the Andalusian club before he moved to Liverpool in 2013.

As the source tells it, Sevilla sporting director Victor Orta would like to seal the deal. His predecessor Monchi had already tried to secure the signature of the Lazio playmaker in the past, but to no avail. Some sources claimed that the player is dreaming of a move to Cadiz, but the club’s relatively low status could ward him off. They currently sit 18th in the La Liga table.

Alberto has been plying his trade in the Italian capital since making the move from Liverpool in 2016. This season, he has contributed with four goals and eight assists in 39 appearances across all competitions.
