The Chicago Bears were thrilled to select Caleb Williams with the first overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. Williams enters a Chicago offense that boasts several strong playmakers including fellow rookie Rome Odunze , veteran Keenan Allen, and star receiver DJ Moore. As the longest tenured Bear of the bunch, Moore is expected to have a leadership role on the offensive side of the ball. He made it clear on a recent podcast appearance that he has a very high opinion of Caleb Williams.

On a recent episode of the Up & Adams Show with Kay Adams, DJ Moore was asked what separates Caleb William from other quarterbacks. His answer was short: anticipation.

Moore was also asked what he wants most out of the 2024 NFL season. Adams set him up by noting how many thousand-yard seasons he has in a row and whether that was one of his goals.

“Just making the playoffs,” Moore responded. “Just showing the growth we had over last year. So making the playoffs, 10 wins, having 1,000 yards could come second.”

The Chicago Bears acquired DJ Moore in a trade with the Carolina Panthers before the 2023 NFL Draft. The Bears sent the first overall pick to Carolina in exchange for DJ Moore and multiple draft picks, one of which became Caleb Williams. If Williams hits, that trade could become one of the most important moves in the Bears’ franchise history.

Bears have one of the best wide receiver trios in the NFL

During the same interview, DJ Moore was asked about the potential of Chicago’s wide receiver trio (him, Keenan Allen, Rome Odunze) being the best in the NFL.

“We can say Miami but I feel like we can all do different things,” Moore said. The Dolphins recently signed veteran Odell Beckham Jr. who joins Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. Miami’s wide receiver trio is one of the strongest in the league, but it is always a question mark how much productivity you can get out of Beckham Jr. in any given season. Chicago’s situation could be much more reliable.

Moore was then asked what role he thought Rome Odunze could fill in the Bears’ offense.

“He got that smoothness to him, when we worked out I seen it a little bit,” Moore said. “I can’t wait for him to get here and show us some more.”

Odunze is a strong, physical wide receiver who could become the X receiver of the future for the Bears. Keenan Allen projects as a slot receiver and DJ Moore can do a little bit of everything. The Bears’ new offensive coordinator Shane Waldron will have the option to creatively deploy his receivers in almost endless combinations.

Moore and Adams also talked briefly about the upcoming NFL schedule release, which is primed to drop on Wednesday May 15th. Moore stated that he is most looking forward to playing the Green Bay Packers. No surprise that he wants to beat the Bears’ sworn enemy. Moore will also have the chance to play against his old team, the Carolina Panthers, in 2024. Not only will that be a revenge game for Moore, it will also be a pulse check on how the 2023 Bryce Young trade worked out for both teams so far.
