Report: Orioles 'dangling' one-time All-Star SP John Means in trade talks

MLB teams in search of a left-handed starting pitcher with superb control and a recent All-Star nod may be able to look towards the Baltimore Orioles for help.

As noted by Olney, Means had a standout first half of the 2021 season -- which included a no-hitter against the Seattle Mariners -- and finished the campaign with a 6-9 record, 3.62 ERA and 1.03 WHIP.

Means made his MLB debut -- and only appearance in 2018 -- during a September outing against the Boston Red Sox. The former 46th round draft pick of the Atlanta Braves burst onto the scene in 2019, when he went 12-11 with a 3.60 ERA and 1.13 WHIP, while striking out 121 batters across 155 innings pitched.

The southpaw made his lone All-Star team that season and finished second in that year's AL Rookie of the Year voting.

Means has a career 20-24 record with a 3.82 ERA and dynamite 1.07 WHIP, while averaging just 1.8 walks per nine innings.
