Mets Promote Top Prospect to Double-A
USA TODAY Sports

He's moving up in the system.

The New York Mets have promoted top prospect catcher Kevin Parada to Double-A Binghamton.

Parada is the No. 5 ranked prospect in the Mets' farm system, per MLB Pipeline. He is also the No. 93 ranked prospect on MLB Pipeline's Top 100 prospects list.

Parada has certainly earned the promotion this year while playing for Low-A St. Lucie and High-A Brooklyn. In 91 games, the 22-year-old slashed .258/.335/.433 with a .768 OPS, 11 home runs and 43 RBIs.

The Mets selected Parada in the first-round of the 2022 MLB draft with the No. 11 overall pick. Parada signed with the Mets for $5 million.

Although the Mets already have a young budding catcher in phenom Francisco Alvarez, Parada projects as an above average MLB hitter that can contribute with his bat at the next level.

It's possible that the Mets have Parada change his position in the future, or use he and Alvarez as the catcher/DH combination in the big-leagues.

Regardless of what they decide, the future looks bright for Parada and he is now moving on up to Double-A.
