The Wisconsin football program has extended its second offer in the 2027 recruiting cycle, as Texas QB Colton Nussmeier announced an offer from the Badgers on Sunday.

Nussmeier is the second quarterback in the cycle to receive an offer from UW, joining National Freshman of the Year Trent Seaborn, who was offered by Wisconsin in 2022.
The Nussmeier name may sound familiar, as Colton’s father, Doug, was an NFL quarterback for five seasons. He currently holds the quarterbacks coach position with the Los Angeles Chargers. On top of that, his brother, Garrett Nussmeier, was the starting quarterback in Badgers’ matchup against LSU in the ReliaQuest Bowl.
Phil Longo loves his Texas quarterbacks; that’s why the Wisconsin football program has loaded up on signal-callers who hail from the Lone Star state. Wisconsin had Tanner Mordecai, a Waco, TX native, as QB1 last season and currently has Braedyn Locke, Nick Evers, and Mabrey Meattauer on the roster, plus a verbal commitment from Landyn Locke in the 2025 class.
According to MaxPreps, Nussmeier made five varsity appearances as a freshman, completing 26 of 50 pass attempts for 280 yards, four touchdowns, and an interception.
Wisconsin marks Nussmeier’s first FBS scholarship offer, as he currently holds an FCS offer from Murray State.
The Wisconsin football program got in early on Nussmeier, and it will be interesting to see if he becomes a priority target for this staff as his recruitment progresses.
